TR,
I like Larc's idea too. I did that once (can't even remember what it had to do with). But it had the desired results, if I remember correctly.

File lawsuit or not?
by TR inwhen i moved my family after leaving the jehoagies schmitnesses, i changed my phone number, and made sure it was unlisted.
little did i know that i would soon be receiving a call out of the blue from a jw.. now, this was a woman that i had worked with at one time and we were pretty good friends, so a few years later, when she called, i was kind of glad to hear from her.
the problem was, how did she get my phone number.

Circle of friends
by mommy ini have a circle of friends.
the kind of friends you can pop in whenever you are in the area, without a phone call first.
the kind of friends i would allow to enter my house if i wasnt home, to borrow sugar, flour, toilet paper, etc, if they needed it.. we are a close knit group and watch out for each other.

WTBTS Monitoring Discussion Boards??????
by normie67 injust curious many say that the org monitors dbs, but anybody have concrete proof of this??
oh by the way at the recent ca dbs were mentioned from the platform!!!
the thought was "some jws were visting jehovahs witness discusssion boards and trying to correspond with some"...might not be exactly what was said(not an actual quote)...they mentioned put a doubt in your mind and start questioning your beliefs!!!

I think they do. I think that is why they are so paranoid about the internet. My Dad told me that at their last C.A. the C.O. said, that anything you needed to find research on could be found in a good encyclopedia set. And warned them not to succumb to the temptation of the internet.

Another self introducton
by Skimmer ingreeting to all the readership:.
i am a newcomer to this board, and as i have enjoyed reading the self-introductions of others, i'd thought i'd post one of my own.. in 1966 i was a nine year old boy and my parents where going through a messy divorce.
i wound up spending some time with an aunt and uncle who had been jws for all of their adult lives, and they gave me a copy of the wtbts book _from paradise lost to paradise regained_.

Long Intro From A Long Timer
by hillary_step ini am a new to posting on this board though i have been actively reading your posts the past while and i thank some of you for the interesting viewpoints that you have verbalized and that i have enjoyed thinking on.
i am still an active jw, in fact an elder of 20 years standing hence my need to limit information about my personal circumstances.
i have served in a number of countries in europe as a pioneer and elder over the past three decades.

Step,
At the risk of being gullible. I am going to welcome you to the board. I hope that you really are for real. It would be interesting to get the "insiders" viewpoint.
I have felt that so far your posts are well put. They describe the dilemma that many of us have been in at some point in our lives.
For me it was a gradual process of recognition and withdrawal. When we still have family and loved one's in the org. it complicates the process.

Why some stays inside the JW
by beroea ini was posting a little on the old h2o but have taking a break before going to this new room only watching for a while.
im still an active jw and elder here in europe - a long way from you in the usa and also another culture even inside the jw.
i think we in europe as jws are thinking a little different from the jws in the u.s. we dont put religious authorities as high as i think you do.

Faith in spite of the WTBTS --- Hillary, et. al.
by LoneWolf into all ---about faith.. i posted this some months ago on another board.
the comments then were thoughtful and appreciated.
i'd like to know yours, too.. a brief background first: i first became active in service in december of 1946, and have been disfellowshipped for over 12 years now, not for gross wrongdoing, but because i asked too many questions and wouldn't quit.

Lone Wolf,
I like the way you think! I wish I had had the strenth to stand up to the elders way back when. You made some very good points.

How sad to be conflicted over such mundane issues. Isn't it great to be free of all that. And I'll tell you one thing, active witness or not, no way would I have walked away from $1000 no matter what label was put on it!

Kath,
I know how difficult it can be to express our deep-seated feelings. Especially when we have been taught to repress them for so many years. This is a good place to start. And it helps in the healing process. You just keep up the good work.
Welcome to the board V. Your post brought up many visions of some things that happened to me at the ripe old age of seventeen in the org. Very disturbing. Glad you are happy now!!
